The smaller of the two original engines was a hand pumped engine pulled by a single horse. It still resides in the current fire station.

The original crew of Calne Fire Brigade on their main engine. The horses were borrowed from the local bus company, so if there was a fire on a Thursday only the smaller engine could come out as the Horses were pulling the bus to Devizes.
