Visit Us
We are located on the eastern-side of Calne, on the outskirts of the
Town Centre, in the beautifully-designed Carnegie Building (formerly the
home of the town's library until the turn of the millennium). It was
one of several around the country donated by the Scottish-born American
steel magnate and philanthropist Andrew Carnegie.
From The East
Heading into Calne on the A4, you would come along Quemerford into the Town Centre. Go straight over both mini-roundabouts near to the White Hart Hotel heading down the hill on New Road. Just after the traffic island, with Station Road on your left, the Heritage Centre is less than 100 yards on your right. There is a pay-and-display car park on your right-hand side just after the Heritage Centre. There is a walkway through to the Heritage Centre which is clearly marked on the building's wall.
From The West
Coming into Calne from Chippenham on the A4, follow directions for the Town Centre before coming to a mini-roundabout leading to a speed-restricted area. Go straight over this roundabout passing the Kings Arms on your left, the main High Street and the new Library complex on your left. Just after the traffic lights, a pay-and-display car park is available on the left-hand side of the road with a walkway through to the Heritage Centre which is clearly marked on the building's wall.
Accessibility
Along with our stepped access on New Road, we also have ramped access via the side entrance.
Here's a short video showing how to access the ramped entrance and the toilet facilities, which include rails, hinge arm and a toilet alarm.
Inside View
A sneak peek at what to expect when you visit us. As you can see we have plenty of chairs for visitors to rest or take in the information on our story boards.
Additionally, our large floor space makes us an excellent choice to hire for exhibitions or meetings, please contact us for more information.
